Korean drama Winter Sonata gets anime

If you spend enough time around Japanese people, you start to learn that many prefer Korean drama to its Japanese counterpart. 

Largely responsible for that is the 2002 drama Winter Sonata, about a boy and girl surrounded by angst and tragedy as they navigate their high school years. The show was broadcast in Japan in 2004, and sparked a wave of interest in Korean drama.

Now being made into a television anime series, the cast will feature the voice actors of the two lead characters and will premierein Japan on Oct. 17.
