The site will also be undergoing a change in format, focusing more on original content like reviews, and also on Japanese study. A little less emphasis will be placed on news items, as much as it will be a site yo hopefully bring something new to reader’s eyes.

The look of the site is not necessarily final, and will be undergoing tweaks in the coming weeks. As of now, all new posts will appear on www.jgeeks.com.

In the wake of disaster in Japan, relief efforts are popping up to help victims.

The latest news reports more than 5,000 people are dead from an earthquake and resulting tsunami that left a large portion of Japan in ruins and affected much of the country.

New York-based Japan Society is hosting a disaster relief fund. Information on donating to help victims of the tragedy can donate here: (Disaster Relief).

The site includes information on services related to the disaster. Google launched a people finder to search for family and friends.

Capital One recently added a site dedicated to helping tsunami victims. Find it here: (Capital One).

Help is also available through Red Cross. You can donate $10 through your cell phone by texting REDCROSS to 90999. For more info, click here: (Red Cross).

Tokyo residents reported to J Geeks feeling tremors throughout the day Friday. One resident, Miki, said it was like riding on a boat. Trains all over the city are down, and many Japanese workers are stuck in their office buildings.

Even in Osaka, residents there said they could feel the devastation.

United States President Barack Obama extended his sympathy to the Japanese people, and offered whatever assistance from the U.S. the Japanese might need.

Gantz debuted in the U.S. January 20th, a bit before the film’s Japanese debut.

The film took in 590 million yen in its first weekend, drawing 454,000 moviegoers to 410 screens across Japan.

Based on a seinen manga series, Gantz is the story of two college students killed in a train accident, but are forced to join with several other recently deceased people in order to fight aliens in a chance to regain their lives.

The second film is scheduled to come out April 32, 2011.

Issues will be available on computer, ipad and iphone, and Android devices for 450 yen on the 1st of every month. The March issue is available now for free here: (Comic Rush).

Comic Rush is probably most known for printing manga series Clannad and Galaxy Angel.

Takeda, who played the female lead in “High Kick Girl,” somewhat resumes her role in “KG,” which revolves around a 200-year old black belt that was owned by famous karate master Soujirou Kurenai. Passed down for generations, the belt is now at the center of a battle that stars the high-kicking Takeda.

The film is set to release Feb. 5 in Japan.

Square Enix has said it hopes to launch the Final Fantasy XIII-2 sometime in 2011 in Japan. No word yet on a North American release. The game is to be a direct sequel to Final Fantasy XIII.

The game’s possibility entered the spotlight last week when it was discovered that the domain name FinalFantasy13-2Game.com was registered.

The series had previously run in Corocoro magazine, an anthology aimed at younger audiences. The move is aimed at garnering an older audience for the series.

Corocoro is one of the few magazine anthologies to buck the recent slump in manga sales. The move is presumably to help boost sales for Shonen Sunday, which sold 678,917 copies in 2010. Corocoro sold 950,834.

No title for the series has been announced.

The series is about Dr. Tachiba, a woman who creates her own monster under the influence of Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein.

The first chapter ran in Sunday GX in 2005, and the second later that year. The third chapter will run in Sunday GX this year.

Called The Reminiscence of Suzumiya Haruhi, the game will take place after the 2010 Disappearance of Suzumiya Haruhi movie, and the film’s production committee oversaw the game’s story.

Players take on the role of Kyon, who returns to the Kita High School Festival in a world where the S.O.S. Brigade does not exist.

The game is due out March 24. A PSP version is also planned.

Also, rumor has it the Haruhi movie will release in Japan Dec. 18. The closest confirmation of this is a listing on CD Japan’s website: (The Disappearance of Suzumiya Haruhi)
